The Past
Over the years Oliver Klaus has mainly produced independent product, and they have played many years in the Eastern Townships (Waterloo, Quebec; Canada) & the local Montreal area. They worked with many professionals: studio producer & engineer Andre Perry [John Lennon/Give Peace a Chance], studio producer & engineer John Stewart [George Harrison/Apple Scruffs], International Promoter Donald K Donald, and others who came to respect their attitude; but always reverted to form, preferring home and family and a normal lifestyle to life on the road. They also like the control independence gave them.
They had a single released on Aquarius Records and two albums released independently over the years. Possibly the first band in Canada and maybe in the U.S. to release an independent album. Were booked and promoted by "Donald K Donald" playing along side of "April Wine" and "Mashmakan". Maurice has gained recognition for songs he has written, receiving awards from the Canadian Council of the Arts and the Governor General.

The Band Members
The Singfield brothers, Maurice and Bryan, from Waterloo, Quebec, with harmonies distinctively their own, still provide the core of Oliver Klaus, while rounding off the band we have Duffy Darling and Julian Singfield.

Talking about his songs,Maurice points out that "the most important thing in my career is the love of song writing." In 1972, he was one of the winners of the Hear Canada Singing contest, which included receiving an award from the Canadian Council of the Arts for his song Eastern Townships Land (a song on the homeless C.D.).
Julian (Maurice's son), at 21, represents the new generation as a singer and songwriter contributing an important creative edge to recordings and live performances of the band.
Bryan recalls: " When we didn't have work we put on our own shows and when we wanted to record we built our own studio. Maurice always had an interest in recording, which led us to build our first studio and produce our first independent album twenty six years ago. That this record has ended up in places like Amsterdam, London and Australia continues to amaze me."
Duffy, noted for his deep resonant voice, sings Merry-Go-Round (a song on the Homeless C.D.). Also from the Eastern Townships (Warden, Quebec), he has played in country bands most of his life and fits perfectly in Oliver Klaus, complimenting the "Sunshine Rock" sound of the group.
