Last Chance
Carlyle McBurney - Lives in Sawyerville, Quebec and has been a professioal musician for many years. He started out at a young age playing house parties and dances and ended retiring years later from the dance hall circuit in order to pursue a different musical direction. After joining the Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society several years ago, he has been playing a mix of country, bluegrass, and old time music. He sings, plays guitar, fiddle and piano and writes songs. "The Waterloo Legion Hall" and "This One's For You", two of his songs, are featured an this CD.
David McBurney (Carlyle's brother) - Born and raised in Sawyerville, has sang gospel tunes and country songs with his family. Moved to Sept Iles for 3 years and played country and old time music with Paul Lessard. Later he spent 10 years in Montreal performing at Canadian Legions in the surroundings area and in Hudson Heights, as well as the Blue Angel an Drummond street. He returned to Sawyerville for 3 years and plyed music at the Hut, the Rifle Club and many special events. He then moved to Tornoto for 12 years and played music with his brother Donald at the French Club and at special functions such as a benefit for handicapped children at De Havilland Aircraft. With friends in Toronto he started playing bluegrass. He now lives in Sawyerville presently singing and playing guitar with Last Chance and other local musicians.
Wayne Nutbrown - He always lived in the Lennoxville, Quebec area and currently resides in Huntingville. He started playing country music at a young age and later played bass at local dance halls, shifting gradually into old time dance music. After retiring from the dance circuit, he began playing bluegrass and joined the Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society. He plays five string banjo and fiddle with Last Chance.
Perry Beaton - Was born in Gould, Quebec and resides in Lennoxville. A well respected musician, he has played and continues to play bass with many musicians and bands in the Eastern Townships and Montreal. He is also a well known photographer for The Record, the only English daily newspaper in the Townships.
This CD was digitally recorded by John Cameron live, May 2002, at the Royale Canadian Legion in Waterloo, Quebec at the Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society's monthly jam.
