Subject: participating in the picnic & Sunnymead Internet Radio |
| At Sunnymead Internet Radio, we feature bands that send us promo packages wanting to be played. We also play bands that have submitted entries for the Picnic Playoff, held every summer at the Sunnymead Picnic in West Brome, Quebec. This year the picnic is taking place August 13, 14 & 15, and if you'd like more information on the picnic and its different events, you'll find it all on the Sunnymead Picnic page. |
| We have put on the picnic, now for five years, and mainly we have brought independent artists. We raise money for Homeless youth, donating all proceeds from the picnic to a youth homeless center out of Montreal. If you want to participate, you can send us a tape or CD, along with a bio to: |
Sunnymead C.P. 277 Waterloo, Quebec Canada J0E 2N0 |
| After our committee reviews your music, you could be chosen as a finalist for the Sunnymead Picnic Playoff (sponsored by 999 the Buzz, an alternative radio station out of Burlington, Vermont), and possibly win great prizes such as 500 CD's of your music, 25 hours of recording time in a professional studio, your music played on the Buzz Homebrew radio show and a website hosted by Sunnymead. Prizes vary from year to year. |
| Don't forget, you will be included in our promotion (posters & radio advertising). Submitting a tape or CD makes you eligible to be played on Sunnymead Internet Radio, regardless of whether you are chosen or not. So send your music in as soon as possible. Also, to be part of the picnic playoff you have to be 18 and over (proof of age required) or be accompanied by an adult legally responsible for you ( necessary papers required). Sunnymead provides the accommodations, which vary with our budget, but you are guaranteed a place to camp (usually the musicians village by a small lake) on our 650 acres of land, along with your meals (tickets redeemed at the site's concession stands). All you are required to do is get yourself here. |
| Also this year at SIR, we'd like you, the listener to send us your favourite Indie songs on cassette, including your personal introductions and critiques of the bands, singers and musicians. Each segment should be no longer than 5 minutes, and you can send us as many as you'd like, accompanied by information about yourself. This gives you a chance to be a deejay on SIR, as we will edit and host 20 to 25 minute programs (Slips as we call them) streamed in real audio, of all the best submissions. We think it's a fun idea for listeners to have a say, and will offer interesting interactive radio. |
Please send your cassettes/Slips to: SIR / Slips P.O. box 277 Waterloo, Quebec Canada, J0E 2N0 |
| To accommodate the blossoming Indie scene, SIR in conjunction with Sunnymead's Homemade Music awards, plans on presenting the finest independent artists on the Internet. Bands, musicians and singers can go to the Homemade Music Awards page and register, making them eligible to win in 8 categories; Artist of the Month, Artist of the Year, Album of the Month, Album of the Year, Song of the Month, Song of the Year, Web Site of the Month and Web Site of the Year. |
| Winners will be featured on Radio Jam, an extension of SIR, and receive a Jam; a symbol to be placed on their web site displaying their name, date and the award category. The Jam is also a link back to the Homemade Music Awards Hall of Fame page, listing all of the winners to date. |
| Voting members also receive a jam, linking them to the Homemade Music Awards site, where their names and descriptions of themselves are placed. For those of you wanting to be voting members, all you have to do is send us an e-mail to info@sunnymead.org, stating the reasons why you think you are qualified to choose the best Indie bands, musicians and singers from all the acts registered with Sunnymead on the Homemade Music Awards site. There are going to be only fifteen voting members chosen each year, so don't hesitate. |
For more information about this unique idea, please go to Sunnymead's Homemade Music Awards site and read all about it. It's at www.sunnymead.org/jam.
