Raising money for the First Responders of Lac Brome
Evening of Bluegrass, presented by the First Responders of Lac Brome, is a fundraising event for the First Responders, produced by Le festival Sunnymead Inc., with the support of the Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society.
Bluegrass has a very distinctive sound, attributed mainly to the traditional instruments used by musicians of this genre. It’s the reason why the sound of a picked banjo conjures up scenes from the Beverly Hillbillies.
Sunnymead Village Records recording artists, and Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society members, Hooked on Bluegrass and Road Scholars, are two popular bluegrass bands that play traditional and modern music with a taste of the Townships thrown in. They will be offering their listeners a good-tyme musical experience of familiar sounds and something new, when on Saturday, the 22nd of May, 2004 at 7pm, at the Odd Fellows hall in Knowlton (476 chemin Knowlton), they will be headlining the Evening of Bluegrass fundraiser for the First Responders of Lac Brome.
The Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society, now in its 12th year of operation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional acoustic bluegrass music in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.
Tom Kilbride and Gordon Cameron, both founding members of the Townships Bluegrass and Old-Tyme Music Society, as well as members of Sunnymead, always wanted to do something for the First Responders of Lac Brome, and as a result came up with the idea of the Evening of Bluegrass fundraiser. Thanks to them, both organizations have pooled their resources and are providing the musical talent and production services necessary to mount this all important musical event.
